Quality isn’t a fancy word for us — it’s the reason we exist. Care homes are busy places, and you can’t afford guesswork when it comes to safety, infection control, or record keeping. Wiggly Toes is built around simple, safe routines that protect residents, support your staff, and stand up well when CQC ask, “How do you manage routine foot care here?”
Below is a clear look at how we work, what we follow, and the checks we put in place to keep standards high.
Clear clinical boundaries
We stay firmly within the safe, non-surgical scope of Foot Health Practitioners.
No cutting corners, no trying things we shouldn’t, and no risky procedures.
We will:
● Provide routine nail care, callus reduction and simple corn work
● Carry out visual checks and flag any concerns straight away
● Signpost to GPs or HCPC-registered podiatrists when needed
We won’t:
● Perform surgical or invasive treatments
● Use prescription-only medicines
● Manage complex wounds or high-risk cases
● This keeps residents safe and gives you confidence everything is being done the right way.
Working in line with CQC expectations
We’ve built our approach to reflect the core CQC themes. We don’t claim to be CQC-registered (not required for this service), but we make it easy for your home to show safe, well-organised foot care.

nfection prevention and control
Every practitioner follows strong infection-control routines designed for care settings.
This includes:
● Hand hygiene before and after each resident
● Use of PPE where appropriate
● Proper cleaning and disinfection of instruments
● Safe handling of sharps and clinical waste
● Clean workstation setup and tidy close-down
● We work around your home’s own IPC rules too, so we’re always aligned with your policies.
Training, checks and insurance
Every Wiggly Toes practitioner is:
● DBS checked
● Fully insured (public liability + professional indemnity)
● Trained in infection control
● Trained in safeguarding
● Trained in record keeping and consent
● Regularly reviewed to keep standards consistent
We don’t send anyone out who isn’t up to scratch — simple as that.
Digital notes and audit-ready records
Paper notes go missing. People forget things. Inspectors ask for detail you don’t have.
So we fixed that.
We record:
● What was done
● What was found
● Any advice given
● Anything that needs GP or podiatry input
● Consent and any relevant observations
Notes are stored securely and can be shared with authorised staff to update care plans or risk assessments. Homes tell us this alone makes life easier.
Safeguarding and consent
We work in line with your home’s safeguarding and consent policies, including support for residents who may lack capacity. Everything is documented clearly so you have a proper paper trail if questioned.
Your residents, your standards — our responsibility
We know you’re judged on safety, consistency, and how well you look after your residents.
Our job is to support that, not add more work.
If you want a quick audit or a review of your current foot-care setup, we can visit your service and give you simple, honest recommendations.
